Mr Wilson Garafa is all you could possibly wish for in a tour guide - professional, extremely knowledgeable and experienced, well-organized, friendly and companionable.  The two of us were with him from start to finish during our 17-day tour of Namibia and we couldn't have enjoyed it more, or made more lasting memories.

Six months before we set off, we were already communicating with him on a regular basis in order to figure out the best itinerary - from the pick-up at Windhoek, to the rainbow-lichen walls at  the Waterberg Plateau, the rich wildlife-viewing at Etosha, the desert-adapted elephants in Damaraland, Spitzekoppe's petroglyphs, the Sandwich Harbour's magical convergence of sand and coastline,  Sossusvlei’s rust-orange dunes, the ever-so-haunting Deadvlei,  the picturesque ghost-town of Kolmanskop, and finally the secret wonders of the Kalahari desert - he was our driver, guide, and ultimately our friend, providing optimal wildlife viewing and all the in-depth information we required about flora and fauna, animal behaviour, geological features, history, politics, as well as social life in Namibia.

Located in the oldest desert in the world are a few very stylish, eco-friendly lodges, and Wilson took care to book them early for us in order to secure a stay at a reasonable price.    Although some tourists visit Namibia on their own, it cannot be half as good, or half as safe (for that matter) than experiencing it with a local guide, one who is gifted with a lifetime's insight and a passion for the land and creatures that inhabit it.  We felt that Wilson knew exactly how and when to approach wild animals and at what point to keep a safe distance.

Ultimately, we loved the way we could have easy-going conversations with him about everything, and how he adapted his insights to our needs.  If we ever decide to go on a trip to the Caprivi region, we definitely won’t have any other guide but Mr Wilson Garafa!

Our trip to Namibia is unfortunately coming to an end…This amazingly and incredulously beautiful country surprised us at each and every turn with its incredible biodiversity, enchantingly colourful landscape, its kind and beautiful people and its impeccable service infrastructure. Our guide Wilson was instrumental to this memorable journey through the vast territory of Namibia being a total success. His thorough knowledge, professionalism, flexibility and versatility are faultless. Wilson is an absolute legend. From helping me figure out the best itinerary for Namibia, to ensuring I got the best flights, he was completely involved in figuring out my trip from the get go. Upon meeting him and throughout our journey together, Wilson was incredible. He knows everything about everything - we discussed politics, ecology, geographical landscapes, animal behaviour, flora and fauna, and many other things - and not only does he explain stories and histories behind every landmark, he also gives scientific explanations.
From the best hotels to the best restaurants and other landmarks, as well as experiences along the way, Wilson guided me through everything and made my trip beyond memorable.
